The Peruvian Book of the Dead

A Novel

It’s been fifteen years since Brisdon vanished into thin air…”

So begins a story that will take you from post-war Scotland to the art-world of London and New York, across the Peruvian countryside during the rise of Shining Path, and to a secluded Ontario summer resort during its darkest hours.

The Peruvian Book of the Dead weaves four separate narratives into a single tale of mystery, love, and horror as it examines the effects of guilt and regret, secrets and lies, and shows us how the enigma of the heart will ultimately reveal its mysteries.

AUTHOR

ROGER J. FLORSCHUTZ

Born in Toronto, I studied visual arts and media writing at Sheridan College in Oakville. After that, I worked at many jobs, from an apprenticeship as film-festival coordinator at Toronto Harbourfront to senior policy analyst with the federal government in Ottawa, writing policy and speeches for deputy ministers.

At heart I have always been a writer: I wrote a screenplay that was considered for production, had a stage play workshopped in Toronto, published poetry in the literary magazine Waves, and co-wrote and edited an oral history on the war years in Canada called The Home Front.

Becoming a published author of fiction has been my most challenging and rewarding accomplishment. The Peruvian Book of the Dead is my first novel.
